Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- We will give you the garage door code. It will be a number + Enter. We will also give you a code for the front door, but the easiest way to come and go is through the garage.
The Network is 527Bayview Password: bay27view
- For your security and that of the other homeowners, the parking lot and backyard have surveillance cameras. There are NO cameras in the condo.
- Parking is permitted in the assigned space (527), in the garage, and immediately in front of the garage door. Please park in these spaces only. Cars parked improperly will be towed.
- Please don't hang towels over the railing at the front door. The Homeowner's Association is very particular about this.
- Please be aware that the area in front of the building is a driveway. Children playing there must be mindful of the cars.
- The backyard is fenced-in and a nice spot for your dogs to visit. There are gates on both ends of the building, so it's good to ensure they are closed before you let them off-leash.
- If a chair is at the bottom of the back deck steps, it usually means that our neighbors have their (very) large dogs in the yard. Always check the yard before taking your dogs out.
- Several dogs are sharing the yard, so please don't leave yours unattended, and be sure to clean up after them. This is only our third doggie yard summer, and we want to be able to continue to use the yard.
- There is a high chair in the closet of the canopy bedroom. A child safety gate is in the first-floor bedroom closet.
- Trash day is Tuesday morning. Recyclables are collected on Wednesday.
- The kitchen trash can slides out from the cabinet next to the sink. The recycling can is in the laundry room, and paper bag liners in the kitchen slide out.
- Recycling bins for glass and aluminum are located inside the fenced area in the parking lot. Do not put plastic trash bags or pizza boxes in the recycling, or the city won't pick it up. Only paper, plastic, or cardboard can be put in the recycling cans
- The plants on the deck would appreciate a drink of water during your visit if you are lucky and don't have any rain.
- The outside shower is located right outside the garage door.
- There is NO Smoking allowed in the unit. Please use the front or rear decks.
- Use caution when using the gas grill. Please turn it off at the main tank when not in use. Propane refills are available at the Brennan Fuel station.
- There is an iron and ironing board in the Primary bedroom closet.
- If you move furniture around, please return it to its original spot.
- There are two Air Conditioning control panels. The unit near the kitchen on the living room level controls the top two floors. The unit in the front hallway controls the bottom two floors.
- Closing the blinds on the big windows in the living room saves a lot of energy (and makes it easier to see the TV.)
- Please feel free to use the beach chairs in the garage. There is some crabbing equipment and toys, too. Crab bait is available at Jingles Tackle & Bait. There is also a red wagon in the garage for your use.
- There are eight Beach Badges in a bowl on the kitchen counter.
Here are a few things we like and places to go:
Groceries: While convenient, Murphy's on Bay Blvd. can get expensive. For extensive shopping on the Island, Acme is better.
Fresh Fish: The best fresh fish is at Pearl Street Market (about four blocks south on the Blvd.).
Pearl Street Market – Gourmet market at Pearl Street and Bay Blvd. Coffee, bakery, fresh fish, take-out, and cheeses. The best breakfast To Go around. They also deliver to the beach. Worth a visit.
Hand's – As close to a general store as it can be. Perfect for anything you might have forgotten. Open most nights till 10.
AJ's Rentals – Great place to rent bikes and pretty much everything else. Next to the Pearl Street Market on Bay Ave.
The Gables on Center Street: For a special night, our first choice is The Gables. We had our wedding there, but it was a favorite even before that. Sondra & Steve (the owners) will do whatever they can to ensure you have a great time. Dinner is relaxing, and the food is excellent. It's BYOB and less expensive (or formal) than it looks.
Bistro 14 – At Bay Village above the fudge shop. Great for lunch or dinner. Excellent raw bar and a view of the Bay. BYOB.
Bird & Betty's – Great food and a fun night out.
Holiday Snack Bar – Popular with the locals and a tradition for many families. Stop in for a burger or a piece of their famous cake.
Polly's Dock – Right on the Bay at Center Street, Polly's has its own atmosphere, and the food – while not fancy – is delicious. You can also rent a boat there for a day on the water.
The Engleside Inn – For Sushi and the best prime rib. The Sandbar- outback for drinks or lunch. Live music.
Best Burgers – Burger 25 in Ship Bottom. Possibly the least expensive burgers on the Island but also possibly the best. Great shakes & ice cream, too.
Best Dinner with Kids – Barry's Do Me a Flavor, Centre Street
Best Cake – Holiday Snack Shop, Centre Street
Best Grown Up Bar – The Black Whale and Bird & Betty's
Best Not-So-Grown-Up Bars – The Sea Shell on the ocean and Bird & Bettys
Best Elephant Ears (a tradition) – The bakery at Bay Village- Crust & Crumb - on the Blvd.
Best Pizza – California Grill or Bay Village (huge single slices).
Best Italian Food – Stefano's and Le Dolce Vita (the best). Try Russo's pizza. They're in Ship Bottom but worth the drive.
